WordPress 7.0.1 is now available, a focused maintenance release that resolves 31 confirmed bugs across the block editor, the admin interface, and media management. Sites configured for automatic background updates will receive the patch without any manual action required.

The release resolves 31 confirmed bugs spread across WordPress Core and the Block Editor, addressing issues that had been reported since the 7.0 launch earlier this year. The full breakdown of fixes is documented in the release candidate announcement on Make WordPress, the project’s official core development blog.

WordPress 7.0.1 Fixes 31 Bugs Across Core and Editor

The release was led by Aaron Jorbin, a longtime WordPress Core contributor, alongside co-leads Brian Haas, Carlos Bravo, and Estela Rueda, with contributions from more than 80 community members. The three key areas addressed are:

  • Block editor bugs affecting editing and rendering behavior
  • Admin UI issues impacting dashboard and settings screens
  • Media handling problems reported since the 7.0 release

For sites not on automatic updates, WordPress 7.0.1 is available directly from WordPress.org or through the Dashboard by navigating to Updates and clicking Update Now.

WordPress 7.1 is the next major release on the roadmap, scheduled for 19 August 2026 at WordCamp US — giving the core team time to continue development on new features before the next milestone.
