Elegant Themes has released Divi 5.5, the first major update since Divi 5 exited beta and moved to general availability. The update delivers 58 bug fixes alongside three main additions: aspect ratio controls, image framing settings, and a new Sizing Variable and Colorscheme Generator.
Every module now includes aspect ratio settings, allowing images to scale proportionally across breakpoints. A companion framing control lets editors reposition cropped images within a defined aspect ratio — useful for maintaining consistent layouts when source images vary in dimension. Image option groups also gain support for Divi’s preset system, meaning image styles can now be managed globally across all modules rather than module by module.

The Sizing Variable and Colorscheme Generator automates what was previously a manual setup task. Divi 5’s design system is built around CSS variables and presets, but configuring fluid type scales with clamp() and building HSL-based color systems required working knowledge of both. The generator produces a complete sizing and color variable set with minimal configuration, and developers can override individual values directly.
Two modules shipped alongside 5.5: Breadcrumbs and SVG. The SVG module renders sanitized inline SVG from either pasted code or an uploaded file, with consistent behavior between the Visual Builder and the front end. Elegant Themes says more modules are in active development, including a timeline module, a table of contents module, form-styler modules for popular form plugins, and an Instagram feed module.
Sites with an existing Constant Contact integration need to take action: authentication has been migrated to API v3 with OAuth 2.0 — the protocol used to connect third-party services — so those accounts must be reconnected after updating. The remaining fixes address a broad range of smaller issues:
- A PHP 8 fatal error triggered by certain plugins during admin screens.
- Duplicate CSS rules caused by Theme Builder layouts.
- A Sendinblue (Brevo) custom field case-sensitivity bug that prevented field values from saving.
The full changelog lists all 58 items.
Divi 5.5 is available now via Elegant Themes’ automatic update system for existing Divi 5 users.
