The most developer-relevant addition in Elegant Themes’ latest Divi 5 update is the loop builder integration in the new Timeline module, which lets you pull dynamic content directly into a timeline layout — but the release also adds Breadcrumbs, Table of Contents, SVG, and Instagram Feed modules, along with over 30 bug fixes. The full list of fixes is in the Divi 5 changelog. Divi 5 is available on the Elegant Themes website.
The Timeline module has the most configuration options of the five. It supports horizontal and vertical layouts, lets you customise every element using Divi’s design settings, and works with Divi’s loop builder — meaning you can pull in dynamic content from a custom post type and display it automatically as a timeline. Each item is its own nested module, so you can drop other content blocks inside individual timeline entries.

The Breadcrumbs module adds a hierarchical link trail to any page — useful for navigating back to a parent category or the homepage. Its main value is in Divi’s Theme Builder, where a single template can apply breadcrumb navigation across every post or category page on a site without manual setup.
- Timeline
- A flexible module supporting horizontal and vertical layouts, with loop builder integration for displaying dynamic content from custom post types as a timeline.
- Breadcrumbs
- Adds a hierarchical link trail to any page, designed primarily for use in Divi’s Theme Builder to apply consistent navigation across post and category templates.
- Table of Contents
- Automatically scans a page’s headings and generates a clickable contents list, ideal for use in Theme Builder post templates.
- SVG
- Accepts raw SVG markup and exposes stroke and fill controls directly in the builder, making it practical for adding styled custom icons that match a site’s branding.
- Instagram Feed
- Connects to an Instagram account and builds an image gallery from recent posts, with image sizing handled through Divi 5’s aspect ratio and framing controls.
SVG files are vector-based graphics that stay sharp at any screen size without large file sizes. Divi’s existing Image module can display SVGs if you’ve enabled SVG file uploads in WordPress, but it doesn’t let you edit the SVG’s visual properties — the new module closes that gap with direct stroke and fill controls in the builder.
The Table of Contents module works the same way, automatically scanning a page’s headings to build the list — no per-post setup required once it’s added to a Theme Builder template.
The Instagram Feed module connects to an Instagram account and builds an image gallery from recent posts. The release post does not detail the authentication mechanism — check the Divi documentation for setup steps once the module is available in your builder. Image sizing is handled through Divi 5’s aspect ratio and framing controls, which allow any image — regardless of its original dimensions — to be cropped and positioned within a consistent layout.
Elegant Themes says the pace of module development is tied to architectural changes in Divi 5 that make new modules faster to build. In a comment on the release post, CEO Nick Roach noted that the company typically ships 50 to 100 bug fixes and improvements for every new feature — this update’s 30+ fixes reflects that same priority. Bug reports can be submitted directly to the team for prioritisation, and the full changelog is available at elegantthemes.com/api/changelog/divi-5.txt.
